Matchplay 2017

This year, the Matchplay has been given a twist..

A Champions League esque feel comes to a new format Matchplay Pairs Competition.

The new comp consists of 16 pairs playing 4 ball betterball (90% of the handicap difference) in Groups of 4.  In true UEFA style we even have a Group of Death!

Matches are shown on the attached pdf (they are not the order they have to played in just to show who is home and away)
The top two will qualify for the Quarter Finals which will be drawn at Westerham (30-06) followed by a further draw at the Nevill (21-07) for the semis to be played by the Final Countdown (15-09) and the final before the End of Season Dinner in November.
That gives up 4 months to play the 3 first round matches which is more than possible assuming we don’t all leave it to the last minute so please get organising your matches asap. Home pair chooses venue.
Matches will be 2 points for a win and 1 for a half. The actual score (i.e. 1 up or 3 and 2 etc ) is important the cumulative score of each pair will be used to determine positions in the event of a tie. In the event of equal scores then the matches between tied parties will count.
It is therefore important to protect the integrity of the competition that all matches are played – we look forward to your support.
Results to Damski and Harvs please so we can periodically update all on progress
UPDATES

In keeping with the latest tradition of close finishes please see below from Harvs with regards to the Matchplay Final.

They said it couldn’t be done but we managed to finish the competition!

Well done to Harvs and Beechie for winning the inaugural Matchplay pairs comp. Commiserations to Beaver and God who were pipped on the 19th.

Thanks again to all who made it happen.

Regards

Damian

Hi Damsk

Just to let you know that the final was played yesterday as planned. God and Beaver raced in to a three hole lead after ten holes, before we won eleven and twelve to leave us standing on the thirteenth tee one down. Holes thirteen to seventeen were halved before Beechy and me managed to win the eighteenth and send the match to sudden death. With no shots on the first, Beechy two putted for his par to win the match, after God and Beaver and me all recorded fives. A great match played in good spirit. Thank you for organising this for us all to enjoy.
